Costa Rica has the perfect conditions to grow many different types of orchids. This beautiful flower has a special place in the heart of every Costa Rican because one of its species, the “Guaria Morada” (purpe orchid) is the country’s national flower.

The fifth edition of the Expo Orquidea (Orchid Expo) takes place this weekend in the parking lot tower of the Clínica Bíblica in San José; the expo features over two-thousand orchids, some for sale and some in exhibit, the event is organized by the Costa Rica Association of Orchid Judges.

This year’s edition is once again supporting the small and medium size national corporations and includes the participation of 45 of this entrepreneurs.

Orchids will not be the only attraction; 80 classic cars will also be in exhibit and you can also choose to take a short helicopter tour.

Tickets to the orchid expo will have a cost of just Ȼ2,000.00 per person and Ȼ1,500.00 for senior citizens and children under 12. Parking will have a cost of Ȼ1,100.00 all day. The expo will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday and through 5 p.m. on Sunday.
