Evelop Airlines will begin operating a new route connecting San Jose, Costa Ria to Lisboa, Portugal in April 2018.

The airline will fly once a week at first, in a 330-300 plane with capacity for 388 passengers, “We have studied the Costa Rican market, and we believe in this great destination”, stated Diamantino Pereira, chief of Avoris (company that owns Evelop Airlines) in Portugal in an interview with Portuguese press; according to Pereira, in 2017, close to 2500 tourists from Portugal traveled to Costa Rica, and now with a new direct flight they expect this number to increase.

The information was confirmed by the Costa Rica Tourism Board; “The decision of Avoris to flight to Costa Rica through Evelop Airlines, is a result of a strategy that contemplates the strengthening and permanence of the airlines, the attraction of visitors to the country (through new tourism products and the attraction of profitable markets, as well as actions of promotion and marketing) and the development of tourism infrastructure”, explained Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism.

This will be the ninth airline connecting Costa Rica to Europe.
