The Government of Costa Rica reaffirms its rejection to any course of action of declaration that involves the use of violence against the Venezuelan people, the use of force or military intervention in Venezuela.

This statement comes just days after the Costa Rican government granted 60 days to three Venezuelan diplomats in Costa Rica named under the regimen of Nicolás Maduro, to leave the country.

The actions of Costa Rica are the result of its decision to support the  recognizing of  Juan Guaidó, as president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, as interim President of Venezuela.

President Carlos Alvarado, also recognized María Faría, as Venezuela’s Ambassador to Costa Rica, she is the representative designated by Juan Guaidó.

“Costa Rican diplomacy has been proactively present in different instances such as the OAS, the UN, the Lima group and the International Contact Group on Venezuela (of the European Union and Latin America) interceding so that the road of peace and democracy is resumed in Venezuela, for the reconstruction of prosperity and where the solution to this severe crisis has the Venezuelan people as main beneficiaries”, reads the press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“As a country of peace and disarmed democracy, Costa Rica, reaffirms its commitment wit the mechanisms of peaceful resolution of conflicts, diplomacy and the tools of international law and multilateral actions to resolve the crisis in Venezuela”.

It also reaffirms its conviction that the resolution of the crisis faced in this sister nation must be peaceful, democratic and through free, transparent and credible elections following the Venezuelan constitution, in the shortest time possible.
