Costa Rica Reports 231 Patients with Coronavirus

The last update by the Ministry of Health in Costa Rica reported 231 positive cases of coronavirus as of this Thursday, March 26.

101 women, 130 men; 204 adults, 19 senior citizens and 8 minors; 18 foreigners and 209 Costa Rican citizens, these is the most recent information provided by health authorities who also confirmed there are cases in 43 counties.

The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas announced that there are now five private laboratories that are authorized to offer the Covid-19 test, these are: Labin Laboratories, Clínica Bíblica, Páez Laboratories, San José Laboratories and the Metropolitano Hospital. The San Juan de Dios public hospital and the Childrens’ Hospital also have the authorized tests available for their patients in addition the national laboratory INCIENSA.

In total 2,331 people have tested negative.

Six patients remain hospitalize, five of them in intensive care.

“We reiterate to please follow the recommendations given by the government authorities and get your information through serious and official sources, it is important to be very careful with information posted in social media”, commented the Minister of Security, Michael Soto who warned that there have been reports of false information posted regarding easy access credits in financial institutions, and people getting calls regarding tax exoneration that do not exist, all these with the purpose of getting banking information or deposits from the victims.
