The Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) found the body of a man under the Rio Sucio bridge on route 32 (San Jose-Limon).

According to the information given by the police the body was badly decomposed and therefore they require time to confirm the identity of the victim.

As of Saturday, OIJ officers were conducting a search in this area after receiving information that the Italian citizen Stefano Calandrelli could be in this area.

Calandrelli, 51 years-old and who has lived in Costa Rica for several years, is the co-owner of L’Incontro Italian Restaurant, he was married to Costa Rican sports journalist Adriana Duran with whom he has a son. The businessman was last seen the evening of May 14.

Costa Rican authorities arrested 4 men and 1 woman in connection to this case last Friday, apparently Calandrelli was kidnaped and initially taken to an apartment in Heredia.

Even though the OIJ has not given an official report regarding the identity of the man found dead, Spanish news website CRHOY.com says to have confirmation from a reliable source that the victim is in fact Calandrelli.
