In an operation carried out by the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security that had the support of the National Coastguard Service (SNG), three Colombians were captured with 743 kilograms of cocaine.

The vessel was intercepted in waters of the Costa Rican Pacific after confidential information was received by the Drug Control Police, the vessel was taken to Quepos, Puntarenas to conduct the formal search.

The three men captured were of Colombian nationality and of last names Torres-Garces, 30 years-old, Landazuri Quiñones, 37, and Castillo Siniesterra, age 32, all of them with a clean criminal record.

So far the Ministry of Security has managed to seize over 25 tons of cocaine this year.

According to estimations by the Organism of Judicial Investigation (OIJ) and the Drug Control Police, in Costa Rica a kilogram of cocaine has a price of approximately $8,000.00 USD, while in the United States the same quantity can sell for approximately $35,000.00 USD and in Europe for $60,000 USD.
