This Tuesday, November 6, Costa Rican Drug Control Police conducted three raids in San Jose, taking down a drug trafficking organization that used coffee bags to hide cocaine that they will then send to Spain using drug mules.

The criminal organization was directed by Costa Ricans, the investigation began in 2017, the raids took place in properties in Desamparados, Coronado and Moravia in San Jose, where they captured five members of the organization. Prior to this operation, the police had arrested two men and had seized 13 kilograms of cocaine at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, the first case took place October 10, 2017 when the police arrested a 60 year-old of last names Rojas Alvarado who tried to exit the country with over 7 kilograms of cocaine; on September 11, 2018, the Drug Control Police intercepted a man of last names Palavacini Villalobos, who was working as a recruiter for the criminal organization as he was attempting to leave the country with destination to Spain with six kilograms of cocaine.

The gang used human mules to carry the bags of coffee in their luggage with destination to Spain.
