Costa Rican Children’s Drawing Competition Focuses on Environment and Peace

The National Chamber of Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism (CANAECO), organizer of the VI International Conference on Sustainable Tourism: Planet, People, Peace-P3, together with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute ICT), invite children from 8 to 10 years of age from throughout Costa Rica to participate in the children’s drawing competition with the theme of “Planet, People, Peace”.

The contest serves as a prelude to the P-3 conference that will be held in the country in October, and incorporates children as bearers of the message of sustainability, said contest organizers in a statement.

Drawings should be made on a 8.5×11 sheet of paper using any technique. The illustration must be submitted in a manila envelope, and additionally, on a separate sheet, the child’s full name should be given, as well as the name of a parent or legal guardian, with their contact telephone numbers, and e-mail, as well as the participant’s home address.

“For the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), it is extremely important to show the new generations the importance of taking care of natural resources. This contest seeks to bring children together in a creative way so that they can learn to look after our planet’s well-being,” said Alejandro Castro, ICT Marketing Director.

Drawings will be accepted from August 1 – 31. Participants can send them by post to the offices of CANAECO, San José, La Uruca, with the address: from the Hotel Best Western Irazú, 100 meters east, 100 meters north, and 150 meters east, with the detail “Planet, People, Peace” contest.

The prize winners will be announced September 27, during the celebration of World Tourism Day, through the social networks of CANAECO and P3, and will be contacted personally by the members of the jury.

The first place drawing will be framed and delivered during the inauguration of the Conference P3.

The prizes are as follows:

First place: Mega Combo Tour at Buena Vista Lodge, Rincon de la Vieja, for three people. Includes: transportation, lunch, horseback ride, canopy tour, water slide, guide, and hot springs.

Second place: Canopy tour for 4 people at Aventuras Sarapiquí.

Third place: Double entrance to the La Marta Wildlife Refuge.
