SIGN UP FOR OUR Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Security expressed their concern through their Facebook page after a Judge in Criminal Court set a man free who was arrested yesterday by the Drug Control Police (PCD), according to the post the court didn’t establish any precautionary measures.
The man, of last names Fuertes Hernandez, was detained yesterday aboard a Hyundai truck with 321 kilos of cocaine, the truck was on a toll truck that was stopped in a routine road control in Jaco, Puntarenas.
The post in the Ministerio de Seguridad Publica’s Facebook page reads:
“We respect it, but it raises our concern and worry:
The Ministry of Public Security was informed this afternoon that the man of last names Fuertes Hernandez, suspect of the felony of drug transportation, who was arrested by the PCD, was set free without precautionary measures. The Criminal Court left the suspect free, and without any precautionary measures.
Fuertes was detained yesterday, at 8:20 a.m. thanks to a road block in route 34 in Jaco, when he was transporting the car he was driving on a toll truck. After a thorough revision the Drug Control Police of the Ministry of Public Security found 321 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a double or false compartment in the car.
Regarding this decision, the Ministry of Public Security was clear to state that “we respect the court’s decisions but we don’t share this one. Our police entities continue to make a big effort for Costa Rica and if the decisions are not concatenated, we will continue to see more homicides product of the organized crime, and this is not what we want for our country”, stated Mata Vega.
The Ministry of Security will maintain operations in the entire country to mitigate the effects of drug trafficking, crimes against life and property.
