Costa Rican goalie Keylor Navas was awarded the best Ibero-American Athlete trophy during the gala of the National Sports Awards. This prestigious award was handed to Keylor by the leader of the European country King Felipe of Spain.
This is the second time Navas receives this recognition.
Keylor Navas signed as goal keeper of Real Madrid in 2014 and recently signed for another season with this team. January 9th he celebrated his 150th game with ¨Los Blancos¨. He recently received the award as UEFA Goalkeeper of the Season 2017-2018 after becoming the first goalkeeper in history to lift 3 consecutive Champions League trophies.
¨I am happy, I have health and that´s all I ask for to continue my battle. Everyone likes to receive recognition when things are done right, and that´s why I am grateful to receive this award¨, said Navas.
Since the arrival of Santiago Solari as a head coach in Real Madrid the Costa Rican has been replaced as main goal keeper by Coutois; however, Courtois suffered an injury that forced him to take a break for a few weeks a situation that gave Navas the opportunity to be back in the main lineup once again.
