The Costa Rican government announced the inauguration this Monday, June 4th of Route 257 which will connect Route 32 (San Jose-Limon) to the Moin Container Terminal.

The design and construction of this road was executed by the company Consorcio del Atlantico which is formed by Constructora Meco and Spanish company Puentes y Calzadas; it had a cost of approximately $77 million USD and took 18 months to complete; it involves 2.3 kilometers and it’s a 4 lane road.

The works also included bicycle lanes, pedestrian runway, and the respective safety barriers. It also includes 4 aerial and 5 ground level wildlife bridges to allow the safe crossing of wild animals.

In January this year the transit in this road had been opened partially (just two lanes) and it is now completed and ready for its use.
