Costa Rican Keylor Navas-First Goal Keeper in History to Lift 3 Consecutive Champions League Trophies

Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3 -1 and won for the third consecutive time the European Champions League.

Real Madrid fans in Costa Rica celebrated the great performance of the Spanish team which reached the 13th Champions title; but Costa Ricans in general celebrated Keylor Navas’ achievement, he made history by becoming the first goal keeper to lift the Champions League trophy three consecutive times.

The scored opened at minute 50’ with a goal by Benzema, Sadio Mae discounted for Liverpool at minute 55; but shortly after Bale scored the second goal for Real Madrid at 64’ and again at minute 84.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, their young goal keeper, Loris Karius was in part responsible for two of the three goals.

“I will continue (with the team), what this club has given me is inexplicable”, commented Navas.

“We never lost faith, we asked God for a lot of health to reach the finals in good shape. It is a reality, we are champions again and we are very proud and thankful for the fans that have always believed in us”, continued the Costa Rican.

Real Madrid’s trainer in his first statements to the press after winning the tournament and becoming also the first head coach to win three consecutive Champion League title, said “It’s clear this is a historical moment. Winning three consecutive times, it’s crazy to live something like this. Even when you believe in it and think of it and work for it, we have no words…This is pura vida, pura vida, like the players say”.
