Costa Rican model Karina Ramos, former Miss Costa Rica (2014), will be participating for the first time in her career in the New York Fashion Week that takes place February 8-16.
Ramos will be modeling the collection of Wilfredo Gerardo, a Latino born and raised in North Hollywood, California who has participated in several occasions in the renown event. Her participation is scheduled for Friday, February 9 and she will be modeling night gowns.
“Here in Costa Rica you reach the top when you take part in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and I’ve participated four or five times in these events. I wanted to model in other Fashion Week events to get to know other designers (…) I hope that this is just the beginning and that I get to do it in other countries and with other designers”, commented the 24-year-old model in an interview with national newspaper La Nacion. Ramos continued saying that her dream is participating in the Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.
Costa Rican designers, Carmiña Romero, Fabrizzio Berrocal, Daniel del Barco and Sonia Chang, have had the opportunity of showcasing their work at some of the events of the NY Fashion Week, and Adriana Mora is the only other Costa Rican model to have participated in the runways.
