The Municipal Band of Acosta received this past Sunday, August 19 its official accreditation to participate in the California Rose Parade.

This will be the only music band in Latin America to participate in the traditional and prestigious event that takes place every January 1st.

The act in which the accreditation was awarded took place at the San Ignacio de Acosta church gym, and had the presence of the Minister of Culture, Sylvie Duran; Minister of Communication Juan Carlos Mendoza, the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, the First Lady, Claudia Dobles and their son Gabriel; during this activity Gerald Freeny, president of the Rose Parade was declared Distinguished Citizen.

“You represent the best of our country, our culture, our tradition of peace, our talent and the values that we must stand for, protect and cultivate at all costs”, commented President Alvarado.

“This is Costa Rica, portrayed in young men and women, who through culture, music and art will take our nations’ values and present them to the world through their participation in the Rose Parade”, concluded Alvarado.

The Ministry of Culture declared the participation of the band in Pasadena, California as an event of cultural interest for the country, and the band also received the country brand “Essential Costa Rica”, as a delegation that promotes tourism and investments by representing Costa Rica’s culture.
