A Costa Rican pastor was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police in Nevada, USA as a suspect of sexually abusing a child under 14 years of age.
Bramwell Bernardo Retana Reyes, age 44, a pastor of the local church Iglesia Cristiana Oasis de Paz, now faces seven counts of lewdness and one count each of sexual assault of a child under 14, luring a child with a computer to engage in a sexual act, sexually motivated – first degree – kidnapping and child abuse.
According to website Las Vegas Review Journal, Retana was ordained in 2002 as a licensed minister in Phoenix, Arizona, he is married and along with his wife he founded the church in March 2004.
The preacher had a clean criminal record at the time of his arrest, but the police considers possible the existence of additional unidentified victims, not uncommon due Retanas’ position at the church.
Retana was detained the day after the victim came forward about the alleged sexual abuse. He was denied bail.
