The Costa Rican Tourism Board consolidated as of November 1st its operations in Guanacaste in their Liberia office, eliminating the previous Nicoya office, this in an effort to maximize existing resources.

“With the issue of an administrative order to foster the achievement of results, a decision was made to consolidate staffing and operations in Liberia. While the office will remain in the same building, located 150 meters east of the Police Force offices, the ICT is currently searching for a larger office closer to Daniel Oduber International Airport”, explains the press release.

With the merger of these offices, eight ICT employees will remain active, seven of whom will be located in Liberia, along with an additional employee who will serve the public in the country’s second-largest international airport, also located in Liberia.

According to Jorge Retana, Coordinator of Regional Offices of the ICT, the unified regional office will maintain the services they provide in an optimal manner. These include the Tourism Declaration procedures as well as those for the Certificate for Sustainable Tourism (CST), development concerning the awarding of the Ecological Blue Flag for beaches, and monitoring of all aspects of the Coastal Land Zone. It will also continue providing support to tourism in the region. Finally, it will continue to develop its actions relating to tourism service, such as responding to complaints as well as being the processing point for various institutional procedures.

Mr. Walter Torres will remain in his position as Director of the Regional Office of Guanacaste, a position he has held for six years with exceptional performance in his duties.
