The Costa Rican Frontier Police located this Saturday a truck used for the transportation of pineapple carrying 50 Nicaraguan citizens with irregular migratory status.
The driver of the truck was a Costa Rican with last name Pérez, he has apprehended and presented to the district attorney’s office in San Carlos charged with presumed human smuggling.
The truck entered the country from Nicaragua and apparently was on its way to a pineapple plantation; however, as it was driving through the county of Los Chiles close to the country’s north frontier the officials stopped it for a routine inspection, when the officers climbed the truck to verify that in fact it was carrying product they found 50 people crammed in the truck.
The foreigners were in good health conditions and were sent back to their native country because of their migratory status.
