Costa Rica reports a total of 9,969 confirmed cases of Covid-19, out of these, 2,818 are already recovered, currently, 211 are hospitalized, 38 of them are in the intensive care unit and 47 people have died.

The government announced changes in the sanitary measures that will apply from July 20th through July 31st, these include:

Vehicular transit restriction

Counties in Orange alert: Transit is allowed all week in a restricted schedule from 5 a.m. through 5 p.m. restriction during these hours will be applicable by the last digit of the plate number as it has operated in the past: Mondays 1 and 2 (not allowed to transit), Tuesdays 3 and 4 (not allowed), Wednesdays 5 and 6 (not allowed), Thursdays 7 and 8 (not allowed) and Friday 9 and 0 (not allowed). Weekends restrictions remain the same: Saturdays only plates finishing on odd numbers can transit and Sundays only vehicles with plates finishing on even numbers can transit.

Counties in Yellow alert: Transit is allowed from 5 a.m. through 10 p.m. weekdays and weekends 5 a.m. through 7 p.m.

When it comes to economic activities:

Express services are allowed to work in any modality.

All productive activities that do not involve physical attention to clients are allowed to operate normally attending all sanitary measures.

For counties in orange alert, only the following businesses are allowed to operate normally: Supermarkets, convenience stores, grocery stores, farmers’ markets, butcheries, bakeries, and all those businesses that sell first necessity items, pharmacies, health centers, veterinary clinics, hardware stores, dry cleaners, locksmiths, banking and financial services, all commerce of products for fishing, farming, etc., funeral homes, car repair shops, gas stations, childcare centers, hotels to a maximum 50% of their capacity.

In counties under yellow alert the phase three continues which means restaurants, gyms, stores and churches can operate to a maximum 50% of their capacity and following protocols.
