Miami, May 28 (EFE).– Artists as diverse as Juan Gabriel, Enrique Bunbury, Andres Calamaro, Juanes, Los Lobos and Los Enanitos Verdes are coming together to record a disc that will go on the market in July as a Latin American tribute to the Creedence Clearwater Revival band.

“Quiero Creedence” (I Love Creedence) is the title of the upcoming album with new versions of 14 CCR hits like “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?,” “Proud Mary,” “Born on the Bayou” and “Long as I Can See the Light,” all popularized by the California band in the late 1960s and in the 1970s, producers of the disc said in a press release.

The disc, under the Concord Picante label, will start selling on July 29, preceded by the single “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” vocalized in Spanish by Mexico’s Juan Gabriel.

The audio of the single can already be heard on the Billboard Web site, while the video is being aired on Internet platforms like Vevo.

Juan Manuel Caipo, leader of the California band Bang Data and executive producer of “Quiero Creedence,” together with Dan Monahan, Diana Rodriguez and John Burk, said that someone suggested that he make a version of Creedence Clearwater and after thinking it over, concluded that “it would be great” to record an album as a tribute to the band.

“We began slowly and naturally, with each band doing its own interpretation of those well-known songs,” he said.

Burk, who produced the version of “Long as I Can See the Light” by Argentina’s Andres Calamaro, said he loved “the idea of working with Hispanic artists to honor the great influence of one of the most powerful rock bands of our time, and furthermore with the iconic songs of John Fogerty.”

According to Caipo, “Quiero Credence” is not just a disc for Latinos and Spanish-speakers, but is rather “good music” created by a band of “immeasurable importance that has survived through the years.”

For Diana Rodriguez, the songs by Credence Clearwater Revival are “classic hymns, etermal and for everyone.” EFE
