Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo of the stellar Spanish club Real Madrid will be missing from the wedding ceremony of his equally stellar teammate, Keylor Navas, in Costa Rica. In fact, the groom will be the only Real Madrid player at the wedding; according to gossip reporter Ariel Chaves Gonzalez of daily tabloid Diario Extra, the ceremony will take place at the Pedregal convention center in Belen, province of Heredia.

Football duties related to his club are preventing Ronaldo from visiting our country. As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star:

[Ronaldo may visit] Costa Rica in the near future, but confirmation of his intention and the precise date will depend on busy football schedules and on the wedding plans of club mate Keylor Navas. Since his signing to the Spanish club Real Madrid of the Spanish League, goalkeeper Navas has become very close friends with various star players, specifically with Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez, Brazilian winger Marcelo, and Ronaldo, a player who many consider to be among the best in the world.

It so happens that none of the players listed above will be at the wedding. Keylor Navas had already made arrangements for the ceremony; besides, he is awaiting Achilles tendon surgery, a situation that will prevent him from playing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The National Men’s Football Team of Costa Rica is under pressure to win the Gold Cup as the highest rated CONCACAF team according to FIFA, but the absence of the star goalkeeper will be resolved by the ongoing training of Esteban Alvarado, who has shown impressive skills under the goalposts, and who has not yet signed with a professional club for the purpose of focusing on the National Team.

An interestign detail about the Navas wedding to his dazzling bride Andrea Salas is that it will take place later today in a new hall at the Pedregal complex, which has been completely emptied out for the comfort and privacy of the 250 guests. Two bands from Costa Rica will be in charge of the musical entertainment. The couple met years ago during a Bible study session.
