President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, said that the resumption of dialogue between the government and guerrillas in Colombia is important for the purpose of converting Latin America and the Caribbean into a peaceful zone.

In act for the anniversary 33 of the National Army, the statesman welcomed the decision of his Colombian counterpart, Samuel Santos, of resuming talks aimed at resolving the internal conflict in that South American nation, with contributions of countries such as Cuba, Norway, Chile and Venezuela.

According to Ortega, this is a bold move, that faces the interests of the most conservative forces in Colombia and defends the right of the region to live in a stable environment.

The forces enemy of peace there and in other parts of the world are the same that maintain the blockade against Cuba and keep in prison five patriots of that Caribbean nation, denounced the politician, who again condemned the actions of the major powers in Syria’s case and the attacks to Iraq in recent years.

We hope that in this troubled world peace is imposed, because that is the vocation of humanity, said the president.

In that sense, he distinguished the Army and the Nicaraguan people’s will to preserve internal peace, to focus national efforts on economic development and the fight against poverty.
