Hilo de Pez by Daniela Salazar
Guanacaste is no stranger to fashion. After all, this province is the hometown of Miss Costa Rica Fabiana Granados. This is where Forever 21 model Juliana Herz went to high school. This is also the birthplace of Daniel del Barco, the footwear designer whose shoes will be worn by Fabiana Granados at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Moscow. Mr. del Barco spent an idyllic childhood in Playas del Coco, which is a source of inspiration for some of his unique and elegant designs.
Playas del Coco is also the new home of Daniela Salazar, a fashion designer whose new Hilo de Pez (Fish Thread) collection draws inspiration from the beach community she lives in. According to Miss Salazar, Hilo de Pez is designed for stylish women who enjoy wearing fashion that highlights their confidence and intellect. This collection is for active women who live life to the fullest.
Although the Hilo de Pez collection borrows from fashion worn by stylish women around the world, the design is 100 percent Costa Rican and is dedicated to the women of Playas del Coco. In the near future, Miss Salazar hopes to showcase her work at a showroom in Playa Ocotal.
Miss Salazar is a graduate of Universidad Creativa. Her graduation project, which was a very feminine line of clothing inspired by Japanese cherry blossom trees, was featured in La 506 magazine. After graduation, she moved to Playas del Coco and designed swimwear for private clients before she started making her own designs and selling them to local boutiques.
