Starting this Friday, December 15, the Naviera Tambor ferry that provides service between Puntarenas and the southern Nicoya Peninsula town of Paquera will resume its operations with normality after working in a reduced scheduled since early October.

One of the vessels (Tambor 2) had been out of service and in maintenance in Cartagena, Colombia but has not been fixed. The service will go back to the regular number of frequencies (6 each way) to face the demand of the high season; the Ministry of Public Transportation which Regulates this service has confirmed the information and also authorized additional trips to the schedule if the demand requires it.

This Paquera Ferry connects passengers to popular destinations in the Nicoya Peninsula such as Tambor and Mal Pais; the trip of 18.2 km takes a little over one hour. The rate is charged depending on the type of vehicle (close to $4 for a motorbike and $20.00 for a car) and around $0.90 -$1.50 per person (minor and adult rates)
