Finally a new U.S. Attorney General – William Barr — was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Thursday Feb 14th and within hours he was sworn in by U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts in an Oval Office ceremony with President Donald Trump looking on. He replaces former Attorney General Jeff Sessions who was fired last year by President Trump.
Barr, 68, a Republican, previously served as Deputy Attorney General and U.S. Attorney General from 1990 to 1993 serving President George H.W. Bush. He left office Jan. 20, 1993 — the same day that President Bill ‘Slick Willie’ Clinton took office.
All eyes will be on the new attorney general as Barr sizes up and takes over his ‘oversight’ role of FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia/Trump Campaign investigation that began more than two years ago which yielded several indictments of low-level Trump campaign and administration officials mostly for lying to the FBI during the course of Mueller’s probe.
After a few weeks of transition current Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will leave this position and Barr will appoint his own deputy attorney general making Rosenstein the last protector of Mueller’s investigation. Let there be no doubt that a new sheriff is in Washington who will wind down Mueller’s probe into a final report sending Mueller back to his retirement.
It will be Barr and Barr alone that will determine if and when Mueller’s final report will ever be released to the public. The clamoring by the Democrats to release the Mueller report has already begun.
Also disgraced former Deputy Attorney General Andrew McCabe revealed in a CBS “60 Minutes” report that he and others in May 2017 – immediately following the firing of FBI Director James Comey — discussed removing President Trump from office by invoking the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that allows for the removal from office of a president that is incapacitated and unable to function. This admission by McCabe stunned Washington politicians on both sides of the isle. McCabe is facing recommended criminal indictments from the Department of Justice’s Inspector General’s Office for lying to Congress, unauthorized release of classified information to the media and other accusations.
An interview between McCabe and “60 Minutes” reporter Scott Pelley is set to be aired Sunday, Feb.17. Pelley appeared on CBS This Morning on Thursday. McCabe is creating publicity for a new book he is releasing and mainstream media is slurping it all up.
“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the President of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” said Pelley. “These were the eight days from Comey’s firing to the point that Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the President … all of these things were happening behind the scenes that the American people really didn’t know about.”
President Trump, reacted quickly on Twitter with: “Disgraced FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe pretends to be a ‘poor little Angel’ when in fact he was a big part of the Crooked Hillary Scandal & the Russia Hoax – a puppet for Leakin’ James Comey. I.G. report on McCabe was devastating. Part of ‘insurance policy’ in case I won … Many of the top FBI brass were fired, forced to leave, or left. McCabe’s wife received BIG DOLLARS from Clinton people for her campaign – he gave Hillary a pass. McCabe is a disgrace to the FBI and a disgrace to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
McCabe and his cronies are on a growing list of former high-level FBI and DOJ officials to have left office, were forced to resign or fired from duty. Rosenstein will soon join this list and with good riddance.
May new Attorney General Barr finish cleaning house at his Department of Justice and join hands with FBI Director Christopher Wray to restore public confidence in the nation’s highest law enforcement agencies.
There remains within both the DOJ and the FBI “Deep Staters” just like McCabe and Comey that need to be exposed and weeded out. Good Luck Mr. Barr. God Speed.
