This year’s first date of the Art City Tour will happen February 9 and it is titled “Por amor a chepe” or “For the Love of Chepe” (chepe being the way Costa Rican’s refer to the capital city of San Jose), tours inspired in Valentine’s Day and with the goal of making many fall in love with the city of San Jose.

Art City Tours are cultural events that take place every two months and take the public in night tours through different emblematic places of San Jose, Costa Rica; museums, galleries, historic buildings, etc . with the objective not only of promoting the visitation of the capital but also with the purpose of rescuing the art and culture that hides in the congested city. Tours can be done by bus, bicycle or foot.

The Art City Tours that took place in 2017 were enjoyed by 17,286 people, who visited more than 20 locations in San Jose. These tours are completely free of charge.

The event continues to attract more and more people in each edition, however, according to the organizer, GAM Cultural the event still has many challenges to work through, the main one is to keep people coming back, since each edition offers visits to different spaces and activities, another challenge has to do with the operational planning and logistics specially when moving from one place to the next in San Jose, since they are mobilizing a large group of people and parking areas tend to be a problem.

The details of the routes for this new edition have not been disclosed yet, but as usual it will involve at least 20 spaces to discover.

This year’s tours will take place in the following dates:

February 14: Por amor a Chepe
March 14: San Jose nos une (San Jose Brings us Together)
May 9: Chepe de Moda (Chepe in Fashion)
July 11: Vacaciones en Chepe (Vacation in Chepe)
September 12: Chepe bajo la lluvia (Chepe under the rain)
November 16: Noche en Blanco, San Jose de día por una noche (Night in White, San Jose by day for one night).
