Former two time president of Costa Rica and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Oscar Arias Sánchez, was a guest this Thursday evening in the anniversary of TV show Camilo, a space directed by Cuban journalist Camilo Egaña and which airs on Spanish CNN; the ex-president made strong statements regarding President Trump.

“I believe he is since the time of Washington (George), the most uncultured, the least intelligent, with least knowledge, with least decorum, with the least respect for people, the President with the least intellectual clarity,  that has occupied the White House. A person that should have been the mayor of a small town, but never President of the United States”, asseverated Arias.

He then added, “He was able to sell a big idea, to “make America great again”, while Hillary Clinton presented a lot of ideas but none of them important, none of them made an impression, so he won the elections lying to people, total populism, total “caudillismo” (political messianism); pure demagoguery, and it remains so today”.

Arias was also emphatic about the fact that Trump’s lack of preparation would make him the laughingstock of other political leaders, particularly in Europe where politicians are very well prepared in every field.

The former president, also referred to other political topics such as the situation in Venezuela and stated “What Maduro needs to do is Leave”.

Oscar Arias Sánchez was born in Costa Rica in 1940, he studied law in the University of Costa Rica and then obtained his Ph.D in Political Sciences from the Essex University in England. He became the president of Costa Rica and was in office from 1986-1990. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to bring peace to the Central America region that at the time was going through devastating civil wars in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, he created the Arias Peace Plan that was presented to the five Central American countries and which was signed in Guatemala in August of 1987. Arias aspired for the presidency again in 2005, winning and running the country from 2006-2010.
