Both male and female condoms as well as lubricants will be handed out on Costa Rica’s recently declared condom promotion day, said the Ministry of Health in a press statement.
This year, Monday, September 4 marks the first year of what will become an annual event on that date to promote the use of condoms in the country.
The country’s public healthcare facilities will be handing out condoms and water-based lubricants to passersby and those entering for care.
The Ministry of Health reiterated the need for relevant institutions to receive training on the correct use of condoms in order to instruct students, consumers and patients.
Access to contraception is part of the public health care system’s commitment to people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights, said the ministry.
