Landslides and floods were the result of the rains this Saturday in Costa Rica.
Route 27 (San José- Caldera, Puntarenas) was one of the most affected areas, with floods in several sectors, in the sector between Atenas and Orotina material was falling on the road and videos taken by users showed incredible “waterfalls” in the area; this situation caused traffic jams and a couple of car accidents. The traffic situation got worse due to the closure of the Cambronero Route due to a landslide.
In the area of Turrubares a 42-year-old man had to be rescued by fireman as he was trapped in his car in the middle of a flash flood:
The Corrogres River in Santa Ana overflowed and flooded some communities in Pozos, Santa Ana; the Santa Ana Emergency Commission warned of several mudslides in a few areas of the river that where threating to block sections of the same with the possibility of causing flash floods.
The intense rain obeyed to a tropical wave that will continue to affect the Central Valley and the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
