Labor union groups in Costa Rica have called a strike on this Wednesday, April 25 to protest against the new fiscal plan that is currently in discussion at the Legislative Assembly.
The strike will gather the union groups of the National Insurance Institute (INS), the Social Security authority (CCSS), public education unions, among others.
Leaders of the groups explained that their position is that the fiscal plan must be disregarded by the Legislative Assembly so that a space is open for a social and political discussion of the fiscal problem. They state that the public workers are not responsible for the fiscal deficit and are against the proposal of the government to cut back on benefits that these groups have received in the past.
If you had plans to go to downtown San Jose it is recommended that you avoid It if possible since traffic will likely be affected. The movement is expected to begin at 9 a.m.
