The Limón Carnivals have been rescheduled and now will be celebrated from October 11th through the 22nd, the dates were moved due to the National Emergency that the country is facing as a result of Tropical Storm Nate, the original dates were October 6-15.

“Even before the letter arrived from the Ministry of Public Security in which they informed us that the Police could not be present at the carnivals due to the rescue work being done in other areas of the country, we had already thought of moving the date of the carnival as an act of solidarity with our countrymen”, explained Reymond Smith, president of the organizing commission.

Since some of the preparations were already in place, the commission will be holding two activities this weekend to collect donations for those people affected by Tropical Storm Nate.

Live music, different shows and “carnival drills” will be held to motivate people to donate.

The Limón Carnivals are a celebration of the culture, music, food and traditions of this province and it attracts many visitors every year.

Activities will include: parades, fireworks, cultural activities, international fair, talent fair, concerts with local and national bands, horse parade, Color Run, Color Festival, Calypso night, traditional sports, car shows, and even a Michael Jackson show, among others.
