Mauricio Herrera is his real name but in Costa Rica he is best known as “Elvis Tico” (Costa Rican Elvis) because he used to do a show where he would imitate the king of rock Elvis Presley.

He was born in the United States but was raised in Costa Rica; he is the first and only Latin American “showman” to have made it to the quarterfinals of NBC’s America’s Got Talent (Season 6).

Mauricio discovered his passion for singing and performing early on in life and he build a career as a singer and entertainer in Costa Rica and Central America, he was for a while the lead singer of the band Banzai, and this opened doors for the singer who had the opportunity along with his band of being the opening act for renowned artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Alejandro Fernández, Joaquín Sabina, and Miguel Ríos.

In 2002 he made the decision to pursue a career in the United States, he presented his stand-up comedy show, and performed as a singer and showman in private events and small shows, “It was not easy, I knocked on a lot of doors, many of which were slammed right in my face”The Mauricio Radio Show where he had the opportunity to interview artists of the level of Engelbert Humperdinck.

The artist also spent time in Mexico promoting his music. Now Mauricio Herrera is back in Costa Rica taking part of the imitation show “Tu Cara Me Suena”. He is also working on different projects including another album and is available for private event performances.
