Sight of Emptiness is a melodic metal band from Costa Rica that recently wrapped up recording of their third album, which has yet to be titled. The album was recorded at SoloHits Recording Studios in San Jose, and Swedish Producer Thomas “Plec” Johansson traveled to Costa Rica to work with the band for about three weeks. Mr. Johansson has previously worked with other renowned metal acts like Scar Symmetry, Solution .45 and Eskimo Callboy. He will be mixing and mastering the tracks at The Panic Room in his native Sweden.
The new Sight of Emptiness album will feature the following guest appearances:
- Glen Drover (King Diamond & Megadeth)
- Christian Älvestam (Scar Symmetry, Miseration, Solution .45)
- Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe, Another Animal)
- Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Iced Earth, Obituary)
- Ole Halvard Sveen (Extol, Mantric, Lengsel)
- Minister of Culture of Costa Rica Manuel Obregón on marimbas and piano
With regard to the production of the album, Mr. Johansson stated that:
“Coming to Costa Rica to work with Sight of Emptiness has been a great experience. Such dedication and love for music as these guys show is a rare commodity to come across these days and that’s probably why we got along so well and managed to dish out some kick ass tracks. The new album will be something to look forward to, creating a blend of dark, heavy, energetic and melodic atmospheres that are ready to take the stage.“
Later this year, Sight of Emptiness will have an opportunity to play some of the new material live in Europe as they will be on tour in Spain and Portugal with Reflection in Exile from the United Kingdom, Damage my God, and The Nail. The band’s single “Predictable Tragedy” was recently featured in episode 5 of the online video show InsaniTV.
