Los Angeles, Oct 24 — A life-size statue of a completely naked Donald Trump was auctioned for $22,000.

As reported in the Los Angeles Times, the statue of the U.S. Republican presidential nominee, created by a street artist who in August placed it on Hollywood Boulevard, was sold at Julien’s Auctions to a private collector.

Prior to the auction, it has been estimated that the piece, entitled “The Emperor Has No Balls,” would bring about $10,000, with part of the proceeds to be directed to the National Immigration Forum, one of the country’s largest immigrants’ rights groups.

However, the publication reported, the statue became the most talked-about piece at the auction, and bidding escalated to more than double the expected price.

The work bears the name of the anonymous art collective INDECLINE.

“We want to redirect attention,” said a spokesman for the group, who requested anonymity, when consulted by the daily.

Last summer, members of the group traveled to the Mexican border city of Tijuana to paint a mural with the phrase “Rape Trump” on a border wall separating the United States and Mexico.

The artists’ collective publicly placed similar naked Trump statues in New York, Seattle, Cleveland and San Francisco.

The statues were immediately removed by authorities in each of those locales, although before their removal hundreds of people took photos of them and posted them on social media networks. EFE
