American tourist Charlie Hughes, 62 years of age, has been missing since August 3rd in Costa Rica and was last seen in the area of Puerto Jiménez, Puntarenas.

The Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) in Costa Rica informed of the disappearance of the native of Tampa, Florida and apparently the FBI is also investigating the case.

According to information that has been released, Hughes was seen in the area of Puerto Jiménez in the company of a man named Alvaro Bristan; Hughes’ car was later found in a river. Hughes had met Bristain in a previous visit he made to the country in the company of a friend ” Tiffany”who has told Hughes’ brother that Bristain gave her the impression of being a “con artist”.

Other family members have stated that Hughes used to tell them where he was and his plans. They also find it odd that he was in a rural area since he was more of city person.
