The CRx5 Challenge is an initiative of the Association Costa Rica por Siempre (ACRXS) and the National System of Areas of Conservation (SINAC) to promote visitation to some of the country’s Wildlife Protected Areas, the natural beauty in each of them, the work of the park rangers and the efforts being done in national conservation while at the same time enjoying an Eco-tourism adventure.
This is the second edition of the CRx5 Challenge, and this time the objective is that participants explore the wonders of 5 Marine Protected Areas and complete – in 9 weeks – different challenges.
The five areas part of this challenge are: National Wildlife Refuge Junquillal Bay, the Cabo Blanco Marine Protected Area, Marino Ballena National Park, Cahuita National Park and the National Wildlife Refuge Gandoca Manzanillo.
The methodology is the same as it was in last year’s edition, nationals and legal residents must form teams of 3-5 people, only 2 minors allowed per team, and they must fill in a free online registration form. (http://desafio.costaricaporsiempre.org/)
Each of the teams has to visit the 5 Wildlife Protected Areas mentioned and register the adventure with a group photo next to the Association’s sign displayed at each of the locations, the photo must be uploaded to the designated Facebook page tagging the organization’s profile and using the hashtags #DesafioCRx5 and #TeamName and a brief text telling others why they would encourage the visitation to each of the parks.
In each area information on as many as 5 challenges will be displayed that will allow teams to win additional points.
Visitation to all 5 areas must be completed within 9 weeks (July 4 through September 5, 2018).
The winning team will earn a cash prize of $1000.00 and can choose one of the 5 Wildlife Protected Areas to receive a donation in materials or payment-in-kind of $600.00; second prize is of $500.00 and third prize $300.00.
