“Nosarans were treated to a colorful display this past Saturday December 8th, as the Nosara High School Christmas Festival kicked off with a series of “bangs”, followed by floats, music, and dance.”

Over 1.300 people came out ready for lights, sounds and sights with families, teens, and the young-at-heart lining the main strip of town from Super Nosara to the airport in order to see all the marchers go past.

Show-goer Carlos Cardenas Montero was duly impressed with the improvement from last year parade, however he said that the rubbish management needs to be worked on.

“The bands, the floats, they’ve increased their level more each time,” he said. “Only they didn’t have enough personnel collecting garbage from people who were there, but the closing concert was very nice and a very nice surprise for the people present here, you could see they were excited about this event.”

Smiles beamed as the brightly-lit displays drove past, while fresh-faced students and costumed participants waved, smiled and threw sweets to the eager visitors, the toss always making their mark.

Although there were a few technical glitches, one involving a motor that didn’t want to start, as well as a turning issue with one of the backhoe-driven floats, the participants rapidly recovered from them and the show went on, much to the delight of the smallest parade-goers.

The concert took over from the parade at the end of the march, and the song and sound went into the late night, retaining much of the crowd afterwards, and following the festivities, folks flocked to the local establishments for food, drink and further entertainment.
