This Friday March 27th the Ministry of Health reported 32 new cases of coronavirus in Costa Rica bringing the total number of cases to 263.

The patients include 121 men, 142 women; 241 Costa Ricans and 20 foreigners. Nine people remain hospitalized and 5 of them with age between 36 and 66 years remain in intensive care

A third patient has been discharged; seven more are still being tested this weekend to confirm of they are free of the virus.

Daniel Salas, Minister of Health asked the population not to let the guard down since, he warned, the country has not yet reached the peak of transmission. “We will reach this peak in a few weeks and once we get past this we can start easing up on the sanitary measures, but at this point it is very necessary that we follow the recommendations of not going to public spaces unless it is absolutely necessary”, he stated.

Michael Soto, Minister of Security, announced that for the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, the vehicle transit restriction would be applied from 8p.m. to 5a.m and the following weekend this schedule will apply for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
