Mexico City, Sep 24 (EFE).- Two journalists were found dead of still-unknown causes at a hotel in the southeastern Mexican state of Tabasco, sour

ces with the state Attorney General’s Office confirmed to EFE on Thursday.

The institution identified the victims Wednesday night on Twitter as Jose Joaquin Perez Morales and Aurelio Hernandez Herrera, whose lifeless bodies were found at the Carranza hotel in downtown Villahermosa, Tabasco’s capital.

Criminal investigators are carrying out an inquiry and forensic experts are conducting autopsies, the state AG’s office said.

More information about the case will be revealed in the coming hours, sources with that institution told EFE.

The two journalists arrived Wednesday morning at the hotel in the company of two women, and their bodies were found at 12:45 p.m. that same day, local media reported.

The cause of death may have been poisoning considering that the corpses of Perez Morales, a 61-year-old journalist, and Hernandez Herrera, a 65-year-old photojournalist who had worked in the past for local media, bore no signs of violence.

Perez Morales and Hernandez Herrera were working at the time of their deaths for online magazine Oro Negro and Tabasco’s Cultural Institute, respectively. EFE
