Police Operations in Puntarenas Confiscate Important Quantities of Drugs

Police operations carried out in the area of Garabito, Puntarenas have allowed the seizure of important quantities of drugs; the Public Police Force with the support of the Operational Support Group (GAO) have been working in particular in the beach town of Jaco and the surrounding areas, where the large number of tourists attract drug dealers.

During a road side control stop this Monday police officers noticed a platform two truck carrying a small-sized cargo truck, they asked the driver to pull over and proceeded to check the vehicles, during the search and with the help of the K-9 unit they found packages containing cocaine in the cargo area of the truck hidden under the floor, in total 270 kilograms.

The driver of the tow truck is a 21-year-old man of last name Montero, he was arrested and taken to the judicial authorities.

On another case,  in Jaco, police officers were alerted by the occupants of a vehicle that accelerated the minute they noticed police presence, they immediately proceeded to chase them and eventually intercepted the car. As the three occupants took out their belongings to be checked by the officers, an unusually heavy drum attracted the attention of the police and they found a package with 800 doses of marijuana hidden inside.

The men were two Costa Ricans of last names Hernandez and Sanchez, and a foreigner of last name Flores.

Finally, in Chacarita, Puntarenas, a man of surname Aguirre was arrested carrying 164 doses of crack.
