The ferry service between Puntarenas and Playa Naranjo will resume normal operations with a normal schedule this Tuesday, October 8.

The service has been interrupted since last Friday due to the heavy rains that affected the Pacific this past week. Even though the service will resume the authorities warned travelers that route 21 in Cabo Blanco de Jicaral is only possible through an alternate road for light vehicles, since the metallic bridge is being repaired, work that could take close to one week.

It is also important for drivers to consider that many of the roads are in poor conditions after the damage caused by the rains, some of them impassable, therefore the ferry service is mostly a recommended transportation service for people right now and not cars at least while the roads are being repaired.

The rains of last week left many communities isolated, still today, 589 people remain in 13 temporary shelters. The National Emergency Commission (CNE), the Electricity Institute (ICE), the Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA) company and the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation worked all weekend to reestablish in record time all the basic services for the affected locations and clear the mudslides that were blocking several roads, enabling communication again between Paquera, Cobano, Playa Naranjo and Lepanto.

The ferry to Paquera has been operating normally since Saturday and the transportation by motor boat to Isla Chira is also available.

The first ferry service leaves from Puntarenas to Playa Naranjo at 6:30 a.m. and it leaves Playa Naranjo towards Puntarenas at 8 a.m.
