The Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Segura, announced this Thursday, September 10 during the daily press conference in relation to the pandemic, that the entry to Costa Rica will be authorized for 7 other USA states as of September 15 and 8th one by October 1st.

Residents of the following states will be able to enter Costa Rica after September 15: Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Michigan and Rhode Island , while California residents will have the green light as of October 1st.

The Minister explained that the country has been analyzing and monitoring the situation with international tourists since the air borders opened back on August 1st. So far there are no registered cases of Covid-19 among the tourists that have entered the country.

U.S. citizens from authorized states wishing to enter Costa Rica must complete a digital epidemiological health pass, obtain a negative PCR-RT coronavirus test taken within 72 hours of their departure from the United States, and purchase travel insurance that covers accommodation in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID-19. U.S. tourists must also demonstrate, via a valid driver’s license or State ID card, that they live in one of the authorized states. No forms of documentation establishing residency in these select states other than a valid driver’s license or state ID card will be accepted at this time.

The airline JetBlue announced recently that it will resume operations October 17 for the route San Jose (Costa Rica) – Fort Lauderdale (Florida-USA)l; on October 25th it will resume flights to JFK Airport in New York, and by October 28th to and from Orlando, Florida. Also, on October, flights between Liberia, Guanacaste, and Boston Massachusetts will also begin to operate.

Costa Rica opened borders September 1st to residents of the following US states: Connecticut, DC, Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Nuevo Hampshire, Nueva Jersey, Nueva York, Vermont y Virginia.
Starting September 15 residents of these states will also be allowed entry: Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nuevo México, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wyoming.

October 1st: California.
