United States tennis superstar Serena Williams, the world No. 1, rolled over Australia’s Daria Gavrilova 6-4, 6-2 Sunday in her debut at the Rio Summer Olympics.

 

The 34-year-old Williams is trying to add a second singles gold medal to her Olympic medal haul, which also includes three golds in doubles.

 

Williams kept the pressure on her opponent, ensuring that she avoided the fate of her older sister, Venus, who was knocked out of the Olympic tennis tournament by Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens on Saturday.
