A reported explosion at the Ariana Grande’s concert in the packed Manchester Arena in England happened towards the end of the concert late this Monday night, causes are still unknown. The police said in a statement which was also posted on twitter:

“Police responded to reports of an incident at Manchester Arena. Emergency services responding to serious incident at Manchester Arena. Avoid the area. There are a number of confirmed fatalities and others injured”.

The emergency services organized the mass evacuation of the venue.

Information given out by the media so far mention close to 20 people dead, but there has not been an official report regarding the number of casualties.

Witnesses mentioned a second explosion or gun shots, but this has not been confirmed either.

Grande is in the middle of her “Dangerous Woman” tour and she had two more concert dates coming up this week in England, both in London.

Update 7:35 p.m. Costa Rica time:

At this point the police has confirmed 19 mortal victims and close to 50 injured. The Manchester Arena had a full house with over 20 thousand people in the audience mostly teenagers and children with their parents; the Greater Manchester Police confirmed they are treating the incident as a terrorist attack until confirmed otherwise. The latest reports state that a suicide bomber is suspected.

According to witnesses Ariana Grande had just concluded the concert and walked off stage, the lights were turned on when the loud explosion was heard, it took place outside the arena, preventing the consequences being much worse, but still and sadly catching many people as they were exiting the venue.

A representative of the singer confirmed the artist was backstage when the explosion took place, but she is in a state of panic and shock as she learned the news of the number of victims.
