The Ministry of Public Security through the National Coast Guard Service and the Drug Control Police seized 407 kilograms of cocaine and detained three suspects 90 nautical miles of Flamingo, Guanacaste.

The United States Coast Guard service raised the alert of the presence of the suspicious ship, the national Coast Guard Service immediately mobilized aboard the patrol ship 3818 and intercepted the vessel with three men aboard, one of last name Serrano, of Cuban nationality but a resident of Ecuador; a second one of last name Barayona, Ecuadorian, and the third one identified with surname Hydez a native of Honduras; none of the men had criminal records.

Once the vessel was taken to land the officers of the Drug Control Police proceeded to complete the search of the vessel and counted the 407 packets of drugs with a street value of around 15 Million USD.
