Philadelphia, Dec 27 (EFE).– Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw four touchdown passes to help the Washington Redskins beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-24 on the road and take the NFC East title.

Head coach Jay Gruden engineered a tremendous turnaround this season for the Redskins (8-7), who went from a 4-12 record and last place in the NFC East in 2014 to division champions.

Cousins completed 31 of 46 passes for 365 yards, with four touchdowns.

The 27-year-old quarterback hit tight end Jordan Reed on scoring passes of 22 and 12 yards in the first quarter.

Cousins connected with running back Chris Thompson on a 12-yard touchdown pass and later found wide receiver Pierre Garcon open for a 13-yard TD.

The Eagles (6-9) tried to mount a late comeback under quarterback Sam Bradford, who finished the game with 37 completions on 56 attempts for 380 yards and a touchdown.

The Eagles had to beat the Redskins on Saturday night and the New York Giants on Jan. 3 to win the NFC East.

The Redskins’ win eliminated the Giants (6-8) from the playoffs. EFE
