The final day of the WSL Essential Costa Rica Surf Pro is today, Sunday, October 7, the stage is set for the Qualifying Series (QS) and the action today promises excitement and adrenaline when the eight remaining competitors in both the men and women events take the waves.

This event gathers some of the best surfers in the world and has the backing of the WSL North America, and the Costa Rican Surf Federation.

Costa Rica is represented in the finals today, the action of Jairo Perez was highlighted by the WSL “Jairo Lopez’ incredible Round 4 performance notched a win over fellow Tico Noe Mar McGonagle, who also advanced, as his dynamic backhand forehand and backhand attack were in form. Perez earned an excellent 8.23 and backed it up with a 6.77 to regain the lead over McGonagle, though eliminating countryman Anthony Fillingim”. Perez, a 28-year-old native of Jaco knows he will be facing big challenges today. With other great surfers making the finals including Venezuelan Jose Lopez, Brasilian Luel Felipe, Lucca Mesinas form Peru, Brasilian Wesley Leite (who eliminated North American #1 Kevin Schulz) and US’s own Chauncey Robinson. Veteran Carlos Munoz is also representing Costa Rica this Sunday.

When it comes to the women, California native Tia Blanco, also Californian Meah Collins, Tessa Thyssen from France, Costa Rican’s Valentina Resano, along with her sister Candelaria Resano and also Costa Rican Rubiana Brownell, the QF are completed by German
Rachel Presti and Spanish Leticia Canales Bilbao.

This event will distribute 23 million colones (almost $40,000.00 USD) in prizes between the best of the WQS 1500.
