43-year-old Sean W. Creighton was last seen on September 24 and was reported missing a day later, affirmed William Espinoza, Chief of the Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) in Costa Rica earlier this week.

Espinoza was careful in not providing many details regarding the disappearance of the US Expat, who holds the Costa Rican nationality and is well known in the sportsbook industry as the owner of the online gaming site 5Dimes and the nickname “Tony”, which has operated in the country for close to 18 years, Espinoza insisted that providing additional details on the case and investigation being conducted could endanger the life of Creighton.

According to the version shared by OIJ, Creighton was last seen September 24 when he left his office in the area of San Pedro and supposedly went to drop off a co-worker in Curridabat, the man never arrived at his house in Santa Ana. The US expat is married to a Costa Rican and has children. It was his who reported the case to the police on September 25, she arrived to the OIJ in the company of two men, who identified themselves as “American investigators”, however, Espinoza stated they were only here for a couple of days and OIJ never had additional contact with them.

The car “Tony” was driving, a Porsche Cayenne, was found crashed in Heredia, OIJ clarified that the area where it was found did not necessarily correspond to where the kidnap occurred.

Even though Creighton runs a successful business, his name is not directly linked to the company, instead he has representatives and his wife’s name appears on many of the corporations in the country.

Some media outlets have said that the family paid a ransom of close to $900 thousand in cryptocurrency, however, OIJ insisted that the Costa Rican authorities have not received any requests for ransom or have knowledge of any “rescue” money being paid.
