The County of Dota in Costa Rica Offers Digital Platform With Information and Options for Tourists

The website vivedota.org was officially launched by the Dota Municipality during the commemoration of the 93 years of founding of the county, this community seeks to position as a touristic destination.

We want tourism to be an essential part of our economy, turning our destination into one of the obligatory sites for tourists”, commented Leonardo Chacón, mayor of Dota.

The platform will be an ally for local businesses and for visitors since it will allow them to directly contact with different service providers, hotels, restaurants, tour operators or even purchase products handcrafted by local artisans.

For more than two years personnel from the local government traveled through the county identifying the areas an projects with great commercial potential; once identified, they offered training to transform the existing ideas into developed products.

In total 120 entrepreneurs received workshops on marketing, branding, image, export process, labeling and the implementation of electronic invoices.

This new platform makes of Dota the first municipality in Latin America to offer a free digital portal that works as a display for local businesses.

The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) has stated several times their objective of promoting visitation to different communities in the country that have a lot to offer but are not well known by national and foreign tourists, President Carlos Alvarado emphasized the importance of these initiatives.

Dota is a county known for the quality of its coffee, beautiful landscapes and variety of birds.
