RPM TV organizer of the Essential Costa Rica Surf Pro, one stop on the World Surf League (WSL), expects to receive close to 170 thousand people between October 4th and October 7th in the Men and Women’s Qualifying Series (QS) at Jaco beach.

This event gathers some of the best surfers in the world and has the backing of the WSL North America, and the Costa Rican Surf Federation.
The last time Costa Rica hosted a WSL qualifying series was two years ago. This 1,500 -level event will give competitors a shot at earning more points towards the international rankings.

The official list of participants will be released September 18; the organizers expect to have big names in the last to guarantee a large audience during the days of competition; Manrique Mata, president of RPM TV, explained that even though there is another event in Philippines on the same dates, he expects many surfers to opt for Costa Rica, since cost wise it makes more sense for the atheletes.

Right now, the men best ranked representing the country are Carlos Muñoz, Noe Mar McGonagle and Thomas King; while the women are Brisa Hennessy and Leilani McGonagle.

In total the event expects the participation of approximately 72 men and 40 women.
