Envision is an annual gathering in Costa Rica that seeks to provide a platform for different cultures to inspire one another to co-create sustainable community and practice yoga, spirituality, art, music, dance performance, education and acknowledge our fundamental connection with nature. Some gatherings around the world have become emblematic of the activities they showcase, the lifestyles they support, and the people who choose to form a part of them. Such is the case with the initial iterations of the Lollapalooza festival in the early 1990s, as it heralded the coming together of a new wave of counterculture in the United States and later around the world. Then there’s the Toronto International Film Festival, which has become emblematic of the changing taste of Western movie audiences. The Winter Music Conference in Miami is emblematic with electronica and dance music. The Burning Man event in Nevada has become synonymous with many modern aspects of alternative living, such as sustainable communal living, individuality, survivalism, and radicalism in general.

 

The Envision Festival in Costa Rica borrows a page from Burning Man, along with some elements of Lollapalooza and the Winter Music Conference to offer a unique experience that is more accessible to the general public than the aforementioned events. Community and artistic self-expression are important elements of the Envision Festival, but other important aspects of life in Costa Rica are also highlighted. Spirituality, sustainability and respect for nature are equally important at the Envision Festival.

 

The 2015 Envision Festival will take place from February 20th to the 23rd, and it is moving to a venue closer to the 2012 and 2013 editions. Per the organizers:

 

It is with much excitement that we welcome you to back to our home at Rancho La Merced, Uvita. Just 5 minutes north of the 2012/13 venue, Rancho La Merced is everything that we could ask for. Naturally shaded campgrounds, naturally shaded village center and naturally shaded workshop zones. Did we mention the shade? The new venue is full of tropical trees! A short 2 minute walk to a wondrous surf beach and just north of the National Park, access to the beach is FREE and easy. Envision 2014 will also have enough space to offer Car Camping for anyone who prefers to camp along side their automobile. Not only that, but we are in close proximity to yet another beautiful Waterfall that is accessible on foot, by horseback or shuttle.
